It's not military pull down powder. Maxam owns rio and a large amount of CSB-1 has made its way into the US. Rio is actually planning on selling powders in the USA at the end of the year. It is very similar to Universal/unique and those loads would be a good place to start. The reloading forum at Shotgunworld.com has some good info.

I have 25 lbs of CSB -1 powder I was going to load 9, 40, 45 haven't got around to it yet.

I just bought two pounds of the CSB! pistol powder from a friend who is a supplier and he swears by it and says it is just as good as Bullseye....

I'd been told that it uses Universal Clays data.. I've worked up a few loads that appear to be within pressure for the firearms I use them in. I am not a lab, just someone interested in finding a use for powders that are available.

I've tested it in a Lonewolf and KKM barrels for a Glock 34 in 9mm. I found that for the same charge under a bear creek 147, the KKM barrel was about 20-30 fps slower all else being equal.

3.24 gr (average of 10 weighed charges in the pan divided by 10) of CSB-1, Mixed brass, Winchester SPP, Bear creek 147 FP yielded an avg velocity of 881 fps in the Lone Wolf, with Extreme spread and Standard Deviations of 15 and 6. With the KKM barrel I got an average vel of 866 fps with ES and SD of 50 and 18.

With a 125 gr Bear Creek, Win SPP, Mixed brass and 4.1, 4.3 and 4.5 gr of CSB-1 I got Averages of 1102, 1116, and 1143 fps with ES and SD's of 44 - 15, 35-11, and 27 - 8. It seemed to get more consistent as the charge weight went higher.

I did one test with 38 Super minor using Starline brass, Fed SPP, and my own cast 130 gr RN lead bullets. I got Avg, ES and SD of 1100, 56, and 13 fps out of a 5.5" 627 revolver. I've not done any testing with 40 S&W yet but I'll try to get to that in the next week or two. The power factor of this load is 143.

CSB-1 is slower than Bullseye.. more in the range of Universal Clays/Unique. It say on the can to use "Universal" data. Which is what I've based the above data on. I'm loading/shooting/testing as fast as I can.
