Zren - He actually had load data and faxed it to me for my barrel (M4 16") twist rate (1/7) and using Military brass vs commercial. He said they we just about ready to publish they're next reloading manual so a lot of the info is not yet published on their web site. What surprised me though was that the starting and highest loads were greater than with the standard bullet, the opposite of what I would have expected.

Out of curiosity, what did he say were the starting and max charges?

Zren - For BLC-2 that I want to use, about .5 grain higher for both.

37 yrs worth of successful ignorance quality safe functioning ,accurate .233 ammo . Dude it's not rocket reloading! In all fairness to you start low & work up for your gun.

I agree but you can't get that threw to the op he just wants to be right .
I used 7 mag data from 139 gr lead bullet for the 139 gmx copper I still have all my fingers and a freezer full of pork.
Did the same thing with Barnes varmint grenades in 223, 50 gr used lead data worked up loads.

Some times you don't have the luxury of data for aparticular bullet , you sure don't have the luxury of their gun, so you go to weight. Every gun is a rule unto itself . The data you develope is your data no one else's. Winchester used to say win case, win primer, win bullet, win powder don't reduce. You still didn't have their gun. I reduced their load could never approach their max. Slugs I'am currently loading for my new m4 1-7 upper with 4 different powders.

To Shoot-it and mark501w: Shot the new load yesterday at the range and it was perhaps the most accurate I have ever used in an AR. Pressure was a bit high, could feel slightly sharper recoil and primers were a bit flattened but nothing that look excessive. Although I too would have thought to reduce powder and start working up slowly, turns out just the opposite worked in this instance. It is curious to me what your problem is, and no I don't have to be right. I was seeking information, trying to obtain actual data to help me develop a load using a bullet that deviates significantly from the norm (size wise vs weight). I have been reloading for 38 years and have done what you suggested on many occasions. This time, for the reasons mentioned, I wanted to use information not intuition. For this you two have a problem? Really guys? Well it all worked out, I'm happy, have a great load for coyote hunting that is legal in California's condor range. I consider this thread closed. You two girls can sip from your saucer of milk and continue to nit pick, but know this: I have unsubscribed and will not see your idle chat.....

Jesus,Bill have a sense of humor, there's a lot of good reloading data here & a lot of good people who have a lot of experience in the reloading all of the reloading nuances. Don't in unsubscribe remember you called me ignorant. I'am no more ignorant in basic reloading than you are with your 38 yrs of experience. I too have used the ar for varmint hunting & prefer it for the field.
