Best way to store pre-cleaned brass???

I'm still a few weeks away from starting to reload, but I'm starting to pre-clean some of the thousands of rounds of brass I've accumulated over the years. It's easy to throw a few handfuls into the vibratory cleaner while I'm doing other things around the house.

I have tried ziplocks and mason jars, but both have led to tarnishing after a few weeks. I suspect air gets into both and causes the tarnish...?

I am now trying ammo cans as they have the "airtight" rubber seal.

What do all of you do when you pre-clean your brass ahead of time to reload? What is the best method to store them and prevent tarnish over time?

Mine are stored in ~ 1 gallon plastic jars. But I'm not picky on keeping them bright and shiny and untarnished. As long as they're clean and dry they're GTG.

throw a couple of desiccant and O2 bonding packets in the sealed containers. They sell both through brownells.

Just put them in a large container and don't matter if they change color a little. You're going to retumble them again after you size them anyway.
I'm only smiling at you while you talk to me because it's hilarious that you really think I give a crap about you.

As I've gotten older I thought I was gaining patience, then I realized I simply don't give a crap.

I keep them in cheap sterilite container from Walmart.

If you tumble them with NU Finish, you should not have an issue with tarnishing.

Go to Home Depot and buy some Rubbermaid storage containers with lids. Think they're like 11-14" long. 6-8" wide and 6" deep. Holds tons of brass. I have two for each caliber. One dirty one cleaned. Use a sharpie and write on side or spray paint or whatever. Nice thin is they come with lids and stack nicely.

They're not liberals, they're leftists. Please don't use the former for the latter. Liberals are Locke, Jefferson, Burke, Hayek. Leftists are progressives, Prussian state-socialists, fascists. Liberals stand against the state and unequivocally support liberty. Leftists support state tyranny.

Darryl, I strongly suggest you add the nu finish to your media and run it for several minutes so that the wax can mix with the media. Otherwise you can end up with clumps of wax and media stuck inside of cases and several headaches that you dont want to deal with. The time spent waiting on the wax to mix in prior to adding cases is well worth it.
+1 on nu finish solving your problem though.
                    Good Luck.
                    Happy reloading.

Thanks for the heads up tip, but I already knew that one!

I maybe a newb to reloading, but I'm not a bonehead! LOL!

I've been cleaning my brass and saving them in ziplock bags for over a year now. I tumble in corncob media and nu finish and they all still look great after sitting for over a year. I have a harbor Frieght tumbler with about 2 lbs of media and use a little under a cap full of nu finish each time.

+1 on the Nu Finish car wax polish

It makes your brass look like gold and it never tarnished on me.

Yesterday I was at OSH and was going to get some more Nu Finish and it was $9.99. I looked around the corner and was searching for Brasso brass polish instead which was like $2.99. Worst decision in my life.

After tumbling some 9mm brass for 4 hours with Brasso, it did not have a mirror like shine like how the Nu Finish brass tumbled brass had.

If you really want airtight. They sale really nice mason jars at the container store. I put mine in ammo cans with dessicant packs. Having an unlimted supply of desaicant is great.
