What to do with steel cases

I have Steel cases for 7.62x39 and .30 cal picked up during range clean up.
I'm the type of guy that does not like to throw anything away. What do you guys do with steel cases

If they're boxer primed, you can reload them. If not, you can sell them for scrap. It's worth about 5 cents a pound, I think?

You can make jewelry, keychains, tire valve covers, etc...

You'll spend more in time and money trying to reload those than it's probably worth. I reload everything I shoot except 7.62x39, because it's just so much easier to buy new ammo and throw away the casings..

Steel is just trash. Not worth the gasoline to take to a recycle yard.

I don't end up with much junk brass cases, but that made me wonder if scrap places will take spent primers. I can see collecting a few pounds of those in a year. I'd kind of rather recycle stuff even if it barely pays for the gas to get them there.

Most decent sized recyclers will have a magnet in the process to pull those out prior to weighing, thus you loose the can and the steel values too.

CEDaytonaRyder's point is well taken. I've taken Boxer-primed steel .45 ACP cases (Wolf and Tulammo) and reloaded them several times. They work pretty darn well, actually. I had one split after 4 loadings (split was just like with a brass case), but the rest are on their 5th loading and still going strong.

I'm not aware of any 7.62x39 steel cases that use Boxer priming, unfortunately. So, probably best to treat those like any other steel recycling operation. Now, that's not the case with the newer .223 Remington; that, along with .45 ACP and .357 Magnum, now use Boxer priming.
