I don't use one of these, but I know some people here do. Places generally only sell pins in 5# bags, so with that said, I would seriously consider investing in the Frankford Arsenal setup for about $200. It's about 10x the capacity and has everything needed to get going including pins.

But to answer your question the best I know...Since it has a 2-3# capacity (I assume in each drum?), I would do 1.5# brass and 1.5# pins at most. That's about 125x 223 cases.

I use this tumbler.

In each drum, I use 1# of media, 1# of brass, and just enough water to cover everything (plus Dawn and Lemishine). I use a cheap food scale to weigh out the brass.

With both drums, I can clean 250 9mm cases or 150 .223 cases at a time. There's a sticky here listing how many deprimed cases there are in a pound.

You can find 2# packs of SS media for sale online.

That single drum is not larger. Each drum on the dual tumbler is the same size/capacity as the single drum.

My recipe is one lb pins, one lb brass, one lb water in each drum and tumble for 1.5 to 2hrs.

I recently built a single drum to make media separating more convenient. I have heard of people loading it up to over double its 6lb capacity. I'll see how it works out. If I were to break it, it wont be a big lost because I had mines over a year and put it through it's paces.

I ended up ordering 5lbs just in case i get a larger tumbler in the future

i've been using DISTILLED water and a few grains of laundry powder.

If you get the HF tumbler, make sure you oil the bearings and adjust the belt tension. It will last longer and tumble more efficiently. I also turn it on for a minute to let it warm up before putting filled containers on it.

How do you adjust it? Tighter or looser?

I would compare motor specs between the machines first.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same motor with just a larger platform for a second drum.
