Seating Die on Dillon (new to reloading)

Hi guys I was wondering if anyone has this problem. I was using xtreme plated bullets and I heard about these bbi bullets so I ordered an evaluation pack of 100 and wanted to try then out. I set my OAL at 1.125 on the xtreme and when I did the bbi bullets left everything the same and when I did it my OAL on the lead bullet was 1.085.

Am I suppose to reset the seating again every time I use a different kind of bullet? Do I have to reset also the flaring die and crimping die. Since the bbi didn't sit well in the brass. Why is loading so difficult. Hahaha. Thank you guys for your time.

    1.125 sounds like 9mm.

    and

YES you have to reset the seating die whenever you switch bullets.

the different bullet will have a different profile and the seating die will need to be adjusted accordingly.

If you need more bell, the diameter of the other bullets is slightly different.

Yes, you will nee to adjust your seating die for different bullets.

Definitively adjust your dies accordingly when you change a component like a bullet.

The other way around that is to use a factory crimp die. Then, you can adjust the dies so that they do end up being the same length...

i was doing that but for some reason my pro core has issues with factory ammo but when i did the OAL at 1.125 i have no problems of feeding so thats why i do it at that lenght.

For all you guys since the OAL is used in the seating stem, if using a different bullet do you guys also reset the flaring of the case as in make it flare more or less depending on how it sits on the brass?

There is no reason why you can't set it to that length with a factory crimp die.

The FCD just puts a "factory style", taper crimp on the cartridge, and re-sizes the loaded case to SAMMI specs. You set OAL by loading with the seating die but not crimping with it. This makes all OAL the same, then your last action will be to crimp them all with the FCD.

i use different seating dies instead of dillon ones so i can adjust OAL on the fly.

i have RCBS resize decap die, dillon powder die, dillon powder check die, lee seating die and dillon crimp die on my 650.
