This guy got some interesting results trying that:

A little while back I picked up some Winchester Small Pistol Magnum primers since I couldn't locate and standards. I loaded up some test rounds, half with standard primers and half with magnums, same powder charges, same brass, same bullets. I didn't have any overpressure signs with any of them...

For the most part he saw a small increase in muzzle velocity and a tighter standard deviation on hits...

You might try it in "ladder mode", and see what it does. But without a chrono, I doubt you will be able to tell the difference by feel. Maybe some observable changes in accuracy-IDK. Start low and work up, and keep checking primers for pressure issues.

I need to get a chrono. That would be cool.

I have been working with 700x in my m&p 40 also.
What sort of bullets are you using?

Breaking out the chrono really changes a range visit.
Not good or bad, just different.
I'll set mine up so I can bench rest from a block. Also helps with validating the groupings as well as not shooting the chrono. Only downside is I feel a rush to get through the batches of what I'm shooting so I forget to just shoot for the fun of it.
Now once home and given some free time, its fun to analyze the data and see what's what. Makes me want to go back right out with some tweaked loads.
