    Spoke to Accurate Powder Today

I'm looking for 1680 and Solo 1000. She said that they have no idea when a powder will be ready. She was able to tell me some places that 'might' have 1680.

She mentioned that backorders are being filled and when stock does hit stores like Powder Valley people are buying the max per hazmat shipping 48lbs.

Also she said that there has be a significant increase in the # of dealers that have popped up since 2013. Add that to the # of people getting into reloading once ammo prices went crazy and that's far too many people vying for powder and reloading components.

It's sucks the whole backorder process on many sights is terrible or nonexistent. Grafs had backorder capabilities but then I read that powders will be shipped as they arrive SO that means several hazmat fee hits

I wonder when the F these people are going to pull their heads out and increase their manufacturing capacity.

More dealers, more buyers, yet no more production? WTF.

I've always liked and used AA powders and will continue to do so.

If they're working around the clock, they're doing the best they can. Building smokeless powder plants is up there with building nuke plants and gasoline refineries, as far as read tape goes, I'd imagine?

It'd be nice but...you're talking about a long term investment that is influenced by relatively short term politics. They very well might be. But it's probably 3-5 year process to expand and be fully capable and safe.

They get caught over expanding and then 3-4 years from now all the panic buying is over and the craziness has subsided perhaps. Then what?

All the manufacturers, especially with 22, have to look down the road. Yeah, lots if new shooters and reloaders. But let's be realistic. Just because there are a few million more 22's sold or a few hundred k more reloaders doesn't mean they'll be buying steadily. There's hardcore, hobbyist, and those who lose interest or just slow down or whatever.

This whole thing sucks for them too. I just wish they'd put a priority on getting #5 cranked out. Man I love that stuff.

They're not liberals, they're leftists. Please don't use the former for the latter. Liberals are Locke, Jefferson, Burke, Hayek. Leftists are progressives, Prussian state-socialists, fascists. Liberals stand against the state and unequivocally support liberty. Leftists support state tyranny.

It could be worse. You could be looking for N320. Powder valley is expecting 3-4 shipments this year and they just got in the first one and it lasted 13 minutes.

The last time that powder could really be had at will was 2012. As you said, there are undoubtedly more shooters, more reloaders, and more dealers. The demand isn't a short term spike at this point, there are some long term growth trends. Now would be the right time to expand I would think.

The demand is most certainly a short term spike. It happens to be coupled with a smaller swell in the number of reloaders/shooters. Demand will be met, and in many ways there are already signs of this. There is no reason for Accurate to increase production when their bottleneck isn't production but shipping limitations in the ports of Australia.

Go look at what ARs are going for on the private sales page, that's why you don't tool up for demand spikes, because not only will the demand go away but the supply of second market items balloons right after the spike which artificially deflates the market further. Most places are already running 24/7 shifts which is economically sustainable and doesn't put a pile of money in machines that will never pay themselves off.

Sadly, gotta agree. I'd love to be able to get my hands on some 2400. So, it's just a matter of sitting back and waiting until the panic buying blows over. And it *will* blow over.

A batch of powder from any manufacturer only goes so far. 50,000 pounds split up can only make it to a limited number of retailers. I use a lot of Accurate 2520 and #7. So does the military. Guess who gets first dibs?
