Decades Old RCBS Press Compatable with Today's Dies?

I inherited my grandfathers reloading equipment when he passed. I believe it is a 1970's era rock chucker. It looks nothing like the current presses available. The thing weighs a ton.

I need to buy a couple die sets that my grandfather did not have. Will today's die sets be compatable with this older press?

Most likely, especially if it is from the 1970s. I believe the standard die thread is 7/8 x 14......

My Rock Chucker was purchased in 1977 and I still use it to this day. They are indestructible with a little care.

    How about a picture?

You bet. You'll be able to pass that on to your grandkids one day.

Thank you for the replies. That is good to know that the dies are still compatable.

I am at work right now. I'll take a picture when I get home and post it. I looked for a picture of one on-line but could not find one that looks like it.

The current rockchuckers are pretty heavy too, but a few decades down the line you'll be glad about that.

I've seen the old presses sell at a LGS for about $100. They are definitely SUPER heavy duty. I want one.

My Rock Chucker is 40 years old.

Brand new Redding Competition Dies work just fine.

Both my RCBS presses are from the 70's when I started reloading. They work fine with new dies.

I also bought my rock chucker combo in the 70's new for $35. I have no idea what they cost now.

I have a 2 stage lachmiller press that is 75 years old and works fine. Uses standard dies. Lee/rcbs/redding

I use two 70's RC's. Great presses, and they are using L-N-L bushings, so everything is quick change.

Couldn't afford a RC when I started reloading in the late 60s. Bought the Jr and used it until last year when I sold it for $60 and bought stole a used RC for $50. I sold the RC I bought in the 70s along with the Piggy Back progressive set up since for the amount of shooting I do now a single stage is good enough.

I got it wrong. It is not RCBS. Most of my grandfather's other gear was RCBS so I assumed the press was too. It is a Hollywood.

Looks like I am going to have to buy a shell holder adapter for it. A puny .223 shell is not going to fit in its holder. You can see the .223 shell next to the 30-06 IMP in the picture.
