RCBS full length small base die

I had a few FTF on the .308 semi and although I realize there may be issues elsewhere for that, I thought I'd give the RCBS small base die(yes, full length)
    a try.
I saw the other thread in here and a couple others out in internetland.

For clarity, my dillon dies are doing fine in my 700 and they may be fine for the ar 10 as well. I had just read enough about the small base die that I thought it would be interesting to try. Yes, I have a case guage.

So today it shows up and I give it a try. Here's my report.

    1. Needs more lube than my Dillon full length resizer.Got first case stuck.

    2. After resizing a few and comparing, all the dimensions are the same as brass going through the Dillon die.

I got the impression the base should be slightly smaller. Am I missing something here?

If this is normal, I'm at a loss as to why I bought the RCBS die.

Thanks in advance for any insight y'all can add.

Dillon dies are small base dies.

Are you sure you have the die down all the way? I had the same issue and just had to adjust the die down another 1/2 turn and I was good to go. This was for an M1A.

Yeah, I've got the adjustment down. Even enough to account for slight shell holder plate flex.

        Bigedp51,
        That would explain it.

        Thanks for the info.
