That is a very slow powder. Don't think I ever read anyone using it for 9x19.

Maybe 50 ae in a long barreled rifle. It's a very slow powder for calibers like 280 and 284, maybe. 7mm mag.

        Great powder however.

NO way IMR 7828 is, was or can be used in the pistol cartridges you suggested.

IMR 7828 is IMR's slowest powder designed for overbore, Magnum bottleneck rifle cartridges.

never heard of it's use in pistol calibers. I load it in 6.5x55 Swedish mauser.

go to the hodgon website, they will tell you what 7828 can be loaded into. Hodgon Webiste
And the powders for small pistol are usually at the opposite end of the burn rate spectrum. Burn rate chart
Aside from the topic, not to be harsh but a lot of questions have come through from very inexperienced reloaders who might be blowing themselves up if they don't know what they are getting into. JCat is actually a very good guy, but maybe getting a little grouchy at the questions, when some research may have provided the answer.
Correct Powder selection is definitely at the top of the list for safety.
You wont blow up your gun using 7828 in a pistol, but need to know basics of powder selection nonetheless.

                            New guy chiming in here.

I've been loading for just over a year now and I will say this.

If you come here with questions that show you've done some of your own research and learning through books, this is a very generous community.

If you show up with questions that show you're taking shortcuts and wanting the spoonfed info then you're gonna get these harsh answers.

I'm in my late 40s and most "kids" today want the shortcut. Maybe it's a technology thing, I dont know. What I do know is you don't eff around with this stuff unless you are willing to read some books on it and be willing to learn "old school"

I saw your questions and thought "oh great, another kid rushing into this" I chose to sit back and see what happened until you got all but hurt.

No short cuts in this bub. Read the manuals and understand what you're doing before you do it.

Come back with some questions that show this and you will get more help than you know what to do with.

We all want to see more reloaders but not at the expense of safety.

I still wonder how you got into college. You think I am both a jackass and a good guy. How can a good guy be a jackass?

The reason I did not like your question is because it indicates you don't care enough about the subject to even try to form an intelligent question. You clearly did some research and discovered the name of a slow burning rate IMR rifle powder. You also discovered the European designation for the 9mm L. In your research, you must have read that 7828 is a rifle powder and the 9 is a pistol round. But here you are asking if any of us use the former in the latter.

How can one not think you are trolling?
