    Loadmaster 223 reloading

Only posting cause I've done a decent amount of searching and haven't found what I'm looking for. I'm looking at adding 223 to my reloading setup. I've loaded thousands of pistol rounds but necked rifle cartridges are new to me and I realize this adds more case prep. I deprime and then wet tumble but from there on I'm having trouble deciding the best way to get my cases trimmed, chamfered deburred and lubed ready to go through the progressive. So I'm looking for a good efficient, cost effective way to make this happen. Thoughts?

Here is what I do for plinking rounds. Decap on the progressive, and then tumble. Then I lube the cases with Imperial case wax, and then re-size on the progressive. Then I trim with a CTS trimmer, and swage with the CH4D swaging setup on a single stage. Chamfer and debur with a case prep center and re-tumble. Then it's back on to the progressive to prime, charge and seat.

You will need to run them through the progressive twice. Once to resize and again to load.

What kind of budget are you working with? You can go with something like a CTS trimmer and chamfer/deburr tool or then there is something like a Giraud.

I'm looking for a cost/benefit analysis. I'm willing to invest in quality tools as long as they save a compareable amount of time/effort. So what tools make it the absolute minimal effort fastest it can be (probably most expensive) and what tools will get me close to that with less cost. I'll evaluate the options and purchase accordingly, if the amount of time/effort saved is worth it then it's worth it to me.

Everyone that owns a Giraud asks themselves why they did not buy one sooner. But spending $450 on a case trimmer is not for everyone. When 'cost effective" is in the question, Giraud and Dillon are generally not in the answer though.

There are probably hundreds of threads about case trimming on every single reloading forum. It always comes down to budget.

Look into a worlds finest trimmer if you do not want to spend hundreds on a trimmer. I have them for 223 and 308 and love them. Cant really comment on progressives i only use single stage

Get used to the idea that loading rifle takes time..

I deprime on the LM, walnut tumble, full length resize, Lee zip trim and clean pockets followed by a tumble again. Next is hand prime.

I like this process because my shell is perfect and all I have to worry about is powder drop and bullet seating.. add a factory crimp if you like.
After watching WTC Bldg #7 being razed, and considering it's main occupants..

I stumbled onto this note while checking advanced weapons..
"911 = false flag. WTC 7 was brought down by demolition. 47 floors came down in 6 1/2 seconds - not hit by a plane. Just one of hundreds of absurdities that occurred that day. Wake up".
