fart smell

i know it's been brought up before in some eastern block ammo threads on the internet. but my wquetsion is what exactly makes that fart smell when you shoot certain ammo?

it's not really the regular fart phosphorus smell, but something similar.

.22lr with a eley style priming like Aguila or Eley smells horrible. So do/did some Remington 12ga birdshot and a lot of the Eastern european surplus ammo.

It's probably the sulfur in the gunpowder if you're complaining about a rotten egg type smell?

smells generally come from sulfur compounds

alot of my wolf kinda smells like chlorine like an indoor swimming pool

Its a little known fact that toward the end of the cold war the Russians discovered that the checmical elements found in a human fart increased the muzzle velocity of various small arms without increasing the pressure. So being the ever resourceful ones the Russian military demanded that their workers eat large amounts of pickled hard boilded eggs and drink gallons of warm beer and then deposit the gasious result in large tanks via fart stations. They then transfered the gas in controlled amounts into small arms ammo during the loading process - hence the fart smell.

its the sulfur i shot wolf 223 out of my mini and got the same smell
