    Are ALL Primers created equally

Loading 7.62 NATO and 30/06 for M1A and M1 Garand ........how do you rank the Primers.

I prefer the CCI34's but as you know hard to find so looking for alternative choices.

I've had no Problems using Winchester primers in all their lineup. They are IMO every bit the equal to CCI brand. I like the fact that WIN LPP are good to go in both magnum and standard loads. I know a lot of reloaders like the CCI 34's and 41's for their semi-auto rifles but I have yet to have an issue with WIN primers in my AR and M1A platforms.

All primers are not equal. Especially true for shotshell primers which for the same load can have pressure increases of 20% or more!

I run both WLR and CCI34's in my M1A. I'd expect CCI200's to be fine too, but I have been warned to not use Federal primers in a semi-auto.

I have a friend who tested CCI #35s (the old blue box ones prior to the white boxes coming out) against RWS primers and found about a 12" vertical difference in their POI at 1000 yards. So, no, all primers are not equal. They can make a difference in your MV.

For plinking rounds yes, for real match rounds no. Absolute no if you reload shotshells.

I've had great luck with Winchester, CCI and Remington is SPP, SRP, LRP & LPP. But there are things to remember like Remington are great primers BUT the 1 1/2(SPP) and 6 1/2 (SRP) are for low pressure rounds!!! If you are loading high pressure rounds use 5 1/2(SPP) or 7 1/2(SRP).
If you want change you have to put in your 2 cents, you can't just sit on the sidelines and whine.

Personally I think all primers are created equally, but the russian primers get upset when us Americans call them "berdan". only they can use that word, apparently....

Remington ran Lake City Army Ammunition Plant from 1941 until 1985 and they used Remington primers to light off harder to ignite Winchester ball powders. Remington primers are also called "mini-flame throwers"

Personally, I would drop the powder by 5% and work up for new primers, You are loading for M1's which I would be babying a tad more than bolt systems.
I switched primers on my Win70 pre 64, almost dropped a load in my pants when the bolt stuck and primer blew, and that was just a "simple" primer change on a worked up load. Just saying.
