    Old, corroded ammo - safe?

    Hi all,
Awhile back (last year, in fact), I bought a whole bunch of Argentine 7.62x51 from a fellow CGN'er for saving and eventual shooting. I finally got around to opening some up today, and there's a bunch of rounds which look corroded. They generally have spots of green on them, like a discolored old penny. When I take some steel wool to the rounds in question, the green stuff comes right off, and leaves behind a tarnished surface slightly darker than the regular brass color. Would you guys feel safe shooting this stuff? Unfortunately I really can't post pics because my camera isn't working. The discoloration on some of them is like this: http://rjo.homeip.net/ammo/
    but not nearly as bad.
    Thanks for any suggestions,
    Nic

I would get rid of it quick. I will PM you my address and you should send it right over. I am HAZMAT certified and will dispose of it properly.

LOL. I'll take the sarcasm as a good sign...

I would feel safe shooting it only if the case didn't look like it was eaten away to any noticeable depth.

Odd. Must be something with Argentine ammo. I have a small sample of the same ammo you describe and man, it looks like it sat at the bottom of a boat in the bilge water for a decade. I've never tried firing any as it just seemed too risky - but if others here have done it, then I guess it's ok?
