Anyone loading for a 9mm carbine?

Most published loads use a test barrel in the pistol lengths 3” to 5”… and most commercially loaded 9mm are also optimized for use those barrel lengths.

Thinking of a 9mm carbine with a 16” barrel… any of you guys loading for a longer barrel 9mm doing anything different?

What type of velocity are you seeing and which powder are you using?

My only concern is velocity using plated bullets… xtreme bullets guidelines recommend no more than 1500 FPS.

Hoping to gain some insight into possibly choosing a different powder to optimize the load for the additional barrel length when using FMJ and HP bullets; and what to expect in terms of performance.

    I load for a 16" 9mm AR.

There is a 100-200 FPS increase in the carbine. More with slower burning powder. Less with Bullseye and such. The most I've seen is 1480 FPS 7.7grs of AA#7 behind a 124gr JHP.

I only get about 100 fps increase going from my G34 to a JR carbine. I only load 1 spec for my 9mm.

I shoot the same 124 gr. bullets in my pistols and Kel-Tec 16" carbine. I get around 150 fps more in the carbine using Unique powder. You probably won't exceed 1500 fps with 9MM loads in a carbine with any powder and 115-147 grain bullets. Not worth the effort to try for more velocity. The longer barrel and sight radius will surprise you as to the accuracy out to 50-75 yards.

The powder that gives the highest speeds in a pistol, no matter the barrel lenght, will also give the most speed in a rifle/carbine.
Tests have been done about this and shown it to be true.

I have a JR carbine that I load for. Research "Major power factor".
I found AA#7 good, but a case full of HS-6 better, in my cabine. 115 and 124 grain mixed brass. I want to say 7 grains of HS-6 with the 115's worked very well for me. Do your own research. These are a little hot.
