223/5.56 sizing

Just wondering is it best to trim your brass before putting them in the sizing die, or after. When I looked in my reloading books, I have 3. 2 mention doing it prior to sizing, and one states to do it after. The last 3 batches I reloaded I measured and trimmed after sizing. Just wondering what others are doing or recommend.

They should be trimmed after sizing to get the most consistent overall lengths

Thank you, that sounds right to me. I just wanted to make sure. I have gotten a lot of good information through this site. I sometimes hate asking, but I want to make sure I am not going to damage my rifle or myself.

brass won't always grow after firing from an auto-loader, but fired brass will most definitely grow after exiting a sizing die...trim after.

Hornady manual talked about trimming prior to resize. Did not mention doing it post resize.
