has anyone seized brass in carbide die?

Because I managed to do it, 3 times actually.

9mm, very lightly used 70s rcbs carbide sizer.
I sized about 200 pcs my first time without issue, which was shot out of my own p7m8.
Then went through a batch of range pickups that I bought off a member here, tumbled, and started sizing/de prime.
first time was without lube, took out de capping pin, and was able to use a punch and hammer to knock it out. Second and third time was with lubing every few or so.

Dies and brass were clean, unsure what caused it. The 3 pcs of brass were all different head stamps.

I dont think rcbs was making carbide dies in the 70's... Think they came out in the late 90's or later ???... Anyway i give my 9mm brass,,, after tumbling ,,, a few blasts of hornady one shot while mixing it up... Havent had anything close to a stuck case... I have resized a few without lube and can hardly tell the difference between lubed and unlubed with a carbide die... In any pistol caliber... You wouldnt happen to be trying to resize the bulged "glock" brass would you ??? I've heard that takes a whole different sizing process... Couple things to check out anyway... Cheers ..

It's pretty easy to tell if the die has a carbide insert. Take the die out of the press and look at the bottom where the case goes in. There should be a grey or silver looking ring pressed in. If no ring, means it's not carbide.

i notice my lee gets sticky after a few so i have a little white candle i rub a case on every 50 or so

I forget the year stamped on dies, but its a carbide die. Ither 1976 or 1979

I use Imperial Sizing Wax on all my straight wall cases before sizing, I just rub it on my fingers and palm and give all the brass a good massage in a plastic tub. The brass sizes nice and smooth. I have Lyman Carbides in .38 and .44 from 1978, still working great.

There is buldged glock brass, and I tried sizing several without any issue.

My sizer die has a full carbide sleeve, not a ring. It will size the entire brass all at once. I figure maybe the larger surface area creates more friction. But I went through 200 without lube and without problem

If it's a carbide die then the reason your cases are getting stuck is carbon fouling. Clean the die. Rub some oil on the carbide, and make sure your cases are clean before trying to resize them.

I once stuck a case in my Redding titanium carbide die, but I reloaded a single case 30 times at the range without cleaning. So there was a lot of carbon pressed into the carbide.

Yep that's an older RCBS Carbide Die. I have a few just like it.

Die was freshly cleaned no carbon no dirt. Nada

Did you rub some oil on the carbide after cleaning it? Or did you run it dry?

Are the shells pretty snug in the shell holder? I purchased additional shell holder as the universal pos from Lee would rip the rim of shells.

Using rcbs shell holder, ive ran the die, completely dry, oiled, and case lubed. All eventually seized a piece

Get a Redding titanium carbide die. I've been running mine for 10+ years and only stuck a case once
