    Low cost 45 ACP

J&G has Wolf for 134.95/500, Aquila for 189.50, and S&B for 159.50. I've shot Wolf before and it was OK, but a little smelly.

Natchez has CCI Blazer for 139.00/500. I just received 250 from them last week.

WWB has bumped up quite a bit lately, so I'm going online for .45 ACP ammo.

I've heard steel cases and Glocks are not a good mix. I have a Ruger P345, SW M&P, Glock 36, and 1911's. They all shoot jsut about anything I feed them.

Anybody heard of better prices or which ammo is best for the money? I'm looking at another big purchase.

Looking at the prices that they charge for shipping, it is almost the same as buying WWB from Wall Mart

Every trip that I make to my wall mart I always buy a couple 100 value packs. Heck, as soon as the lady sees me, she pulls them out.

If you're not averse to going to Wal-Mart, you could get WWB for 29.95 for 100. So figure on about $160 after taxes for 500 rounds. I kind of prefer going to a retail store and saving on shipping.

Edit: Damn, Chief, beat me to it by about one second!

I would do what they suggested and just get WWB if you're only looking for some plinking ammo.

Sports Authority had been my cheapest option, but the bumped up WWB. I'll check Wally World and compare.

Wildsports in Sac had a killer sale going a few months ago, and I hear the usually have sales going. I haven't had biz in Sac lately.

My last online ammo purchase had a $22 shipping bill for 500 rds. Even though the price was good, the $2 per box shipping got it just a little less than over the counter Wally World cost w/tax.

.45 ACP is twice as heavy as 9mm and therefore more expensive to ship. I've been shopping for quantity discounts locally but WWB at Wally World is just pennies over cost. Pretty hard to beat.

Since ammo is sure to continue to increase in cost, and there is some nefarious legislation pending, I am stocking up on 9mm and 45. I'm planning on shooting my handguns more and don't want to get caught short.

For .45, it's probably a REALLY good idea to reload. I shoot 9mm and it's a little cheaper to do the whole Wal Mart WWB thing.. for now.

Reloading is off the table for now. It's more cost-effective for me to buy ammo rather than load it. (I used to load extensively, but gave it up)

Bingo. You can get a whole Lee Classic Turret press set-up for .45acp from Kempfs for $200 or so. It will cut the cost of shooting .45acp in half.

I'd only start reloading if you shoot a lot

Oh, I don't know. $30+/box hurts pretty bad, period. One box, ten, fifty, whatever. It adds up quick, that's for damn sure.

I was thinking of calibers like .41 and .44mag. I should be saving my .45acp and .38super brass among others but I'm too lazy to pick it up generally. I cringe to think of the brass I have thrown away in the past.

I keep most of the revolver brass these days and all of the exotic rounds like 6.5x54ms and 6.5Carcano.
