444 Marlin Brass problem

Check these out. I bought about 100 Hornady Leverevolution stuff for my 444 marlin. Started shooting and soon noticed that the casings are short. I'm not sure why. I have a hunch that it's to accommodate the longer bullet they used in that load.

My question is can I reuse them? I'm assuming i'll have to load them with the same bullets as Hornady and the same powder.

Thoughts?

I spoke with an engineer at Hornady regarding using 265 gr. and 300 gr. he said just shorten the case by the difference of the bullet lengths so they will feed with longer bullets.

Yup. Those shorty cases only work with the long leverevolution boolits. Not just a .444 issue either.

Or, pull the bullet up with a light crimp on top & a roll crimp on the base of the bullet?

interesting. You all just confirmed my thoughts. Thanks. I'll keep them and load with Hornady Leverevolution stuff maybe. It's a different powder and bullet to hunt down then what I expected, but oh well.
