Leaking Lee Pro 4 Bottom Pour

I've jogged the flow control screw full lock and full open when the pot was up to temp. It still does tiny drip about every 10 seconds. This is the 2nd casting session I've done through this pot and am using the same alloy/temps.

On the plus side the drips into my catch pan made for some interesting lead art (see attachment).

Any thoughts?

It probably always will, that's why we call them ol drippy. I tried cleaning up the end of the rod and It helped some.

Mine does that, too. It's because the spout and the end of the rod need cleaning. If it's one drip every 10 seconds, I don't care and just keep on castin'.

There are two screws at the top of the assembly. The left screw is actually the top of the rod that goes down into the spout. When the drip starts take a flat head screwdriver and spin the rod back and forth. This will stop the drip. I have used my pot for so long that I keep a small screwdriver next to me when casting. Spinning the rod is now just second nature.

This is what I've been doing. Won't stop. I may just have to clean the rod.

Check the second screw on the right. It is silver. It controls how far the plunger travels and the amount of flow.

It may be screwed down too far. If it is it won't let the plunger go down far enough to seal the spout.

If neither of these fix the problem you have two choices. Live with it or empty the pot and look for debris from dirty lead that is clogging the spout.

I have seen some use a spring to give the handle a little more down pressure.
I have only had 5 or 6 drops in the last 20 or so sessions.
Only put in clean lead. Maybe I just got lucky. It was a 20lb refurbished unit too.

Seems like you are getting good advice here. Drips are usually a piece of dirt or something that is in the nozzle. I clean mine with a paper clip from time to time. I don't let the lead art pile up that high before it makes its way back into the top along with the sprue. Heck is is already heated lead so it doesn't change the casting temperature enough to make a difference. I am just a beginner myself at casting, but I have found it fun. Good luck.
