    AR15 pet load

Hey everybody how is the reloading going? I wanted to share my favorite AR15 plinking recipe. Would like insight or opinions and your own pet loads for .556.

The book says I should be getting 2850 fps . So it is a run of the mill load that does not batter the brass or gun unnecessarily . Plenty of punch to cycle all my guns.

Starting with mixed cases from PMC , Rem and Win with a few LC in the mix. Trimmed to 1.745 o 1.760 most right at 1.757. So accuracy is not going to be at a maximum, but these are for plinking and training not hunting.
Put a CCI small rifle primer and top with 26.2 gr of Varget. That fills the case up to the neck and the base of the 55 gn FMJ or spitzers touch the charge but not compressed.

Doing small batches of 50 or 100 and weighing each charge, I have been 100% reliable.

If you run out of Varget try some Benchmark, Win748, or a ball powder. It will meter much easier so you won't have to weigh each charge (provided you are using a powder dropper).

            I run BL-C(2) @ 28g under 55g FMJBT
            It's a hot load.

After having my first experience with a stick powder (giving up after hand weighing / trickling 20 rounds with IMR 3031) I will stick to my ball powder. Measures perfect each time, perfect for mass production.

Now I know where all the Varget is going, people are using it for plinking.

I like the light load idea to save powder and ease the fireball on the pistol. 25.3 is above the listed min starting loads. Should cycle everything but the tightest gas ports. Going down on my next batches. Book approx 2725fps and 900 ft pds, with the 55 fmjbt.

My book says 25.3 of varget with a 69gr. HPBT matchking with a c.o.a.l of 2.260 is the accuracy load. 2750 fps and 1158ft pds. May have to try that combo seems like alot more punch and same velocity on the same powder/case/primer. Also the 1in7 and 1in8 will love an accurate big pill.

Plinking - 25.0gr Benchmark with Remington SRP & 55gr FMJ from Xtreme bullets. Avg 2933 fps (chronographed) & COAL 2.255", OR 25.5gr BLC-2 with same primer/bullet/COAL setup. I do not database my loads unless it shoots a maximum of 1" MOA @100yds
