7.62 x 39 ammo choice

Sorry if I am beating a dead horse, but I searched, but I could not find anything directly on point.

I am looking to buy some 7.62 x 39 ammo from S&G and I cannot figure out which is the best. I am pretty much looking to shoot a bit of it and throw the rest on a shelf for that SHTF moment. It could sit there for years, so my main concern is going to be long term storage. I don't care about case / bullet material because I never go to a public range and I am never going to reload so the primer type is not important.

I have seen Red Army, Golden Tiger, Golden Bear, and Wolf to name just a few. For all I know it all comes out of the same factory.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If you plan on reloading, try Fiocchi. If not I have found that Wolf works good for me and is cleaner than the others.

Fiocchi= Non-magnetic
Wolf= Is magnetic

Pretty much the names you've posted are good to go. You'll have to try the brands you've listed. Function and accuracy. What rifle are you shooting it out of? I have a Chinese SKS that will digest any 7.62x39 ammo brand. But Wolf groups best around 2" to 3" at 100 yards with open sight. I use to buy the Norinco brand ammo back in the early 90's for $1.50 per 20 that grouped so-so and on the dirty side but this is way before Wolf came out.

Buy whatever brand is cheapest (among the ones you listed) and you should be GTG. My preference is Wolf and it has been the best priced lately.

GT also has sealed bullets, good for long term storage.

My vote is for GT also, you can't beat that full lacquer coating for long term storage, wet conditions, etc.

I really can't answer your question OP. I just want to make sure people know that good ammo will outlast us all and doesn't need coating. I have 193's from the 60's and 70's that still shoot. I have also shot 303's and 30-06's from WWI that still shoot.

I think I will give the Golden Tiger a shot as long as the price is right. It seems that the 7.62 x 39 has not gone too crazy price wise.
