Any experience with Nosler 77gr Custom Competition bullets

I was looking at grafs tonight and I was looking for my usual Sierra matchking 77gr bullets and I saw these for $160/1000 which seems like a good price. Has anyone here tried them?

I normally shoot 168g SMK (i know its 308 vs 223) but my POI is the exact same. i cant tell the difference except in my pocket book. no experience with the 223, but i can assume its the same

The Nosler 52 grain Custom Competition shoots very good in my bolt .223 Remington and .22-250 Remington rifles with 1:9" twist barrels. I haven't tried the 77 grain, but knowing Nosler quality across the board they should be the equal of Sierra.

I like them I have used them with good success out of a White Oak match rifle. Good price. Last time I bought them it was about $50.00 for 250

I came across some 77gr and they shot just as tight as my 62gr out of a 1/7 twist. Nosler custom match and sierra matchkings are also great in my 308.

I've never used the 77gr stuff, but i have loaded both 180gr custom competition and SMK's and the difference is minute out of my GA precision rifles. Less then roughly 1/8 an MOA difference at 200 yards

I shot the 77 Nosler CC for a long time in matches. It's a fine bullet for the 200 and 300 yard line. I had so many of these because Nosler was selling these direct for $100 per 1K in the mid-2000s.

To be honest, I think all of the 75/77 bthp variants from the reputable manufacturers are going to shoot virtually equally.

Though, it's funny I say this because I now use the far more expensive Lapua 77 Scenar.

If you trust the Army's testing, which is sometimes skewed for political reasons, both the Sierra and Nosler 77gr HPBT was tested in the MK262 quasi sniper round for the 5.56mm MK12 SPR, which is a quasi sniper rifle.

In testing, the Army found both the Sierra and Nosler fully acceptable; however, the Army requires a canelure. Sierra initially balked at the request to put a cannelure on their SMK, but Nosler was more than willing to.

Army testing found the SMK had a very slight advantage in accuracy, but the difference was so slight, the Army went with the Nosler, since they were willing to meet the Army's canelure requirement.

5.56mm MK262 SPR ammo with the Nosler 77gr HPBT had more than satisfactory results.

Eventually Sierra figured out how much money they were losing on military contracts, so they compromised and place a miniscule canelure on their 77 SMK and started supplying MK262 Mod 1 ammo for the Army.

I used the SPR in Iraq, but we only had MK262 Mod 1 ammo with the SMK, so I never got a chance to test the Nosler against the SMK...but the Army was more than satisfied with the Nosler in MK262 Mod 1 ammo, so the difference in accuracy between the two wasn't enough to make a difference in the initial contracting of ammo.

I was loading them (will again, someday) for one of my ARs back before I stopped loading .223 (I just hate doing case prep on .223) I have had good luck pushing it with H335

They're less expensive than the SMKs, and in my guns shoot just as well.

Just bought another thou of them.

They shoot as well as Sierra's in my National Match WOA 1/7. The tips of the hollowpoints are a little more irregular shaped than the Sierra's I've loaded.
