    .223 trim Question

I have 3-4 cases that are 1.745. Trim length is 1.75 and max at 1.76. Is 1.745 to short to use? what would be the Min. min. to use

1.745" is not too short at all, but if consistency is paramount for you keep them all the same length.

The best thing I got was a comparator, I would look into one. Makes measuring a lot easier

1.745 is fine. You can even go shorter than minimum without a problem. There are a number of short necked cartridges that have less neck bearing surface than a too short trimmed .223. Not ideal but for plinking it's fine.
weg: That device is obsolete now. They replaced it with wizards.
frank: Wait a minute. There are more than one wizard? Is [are?] the wizard calibrated?

The plastic shim in my Lyman trimmer came loose when I was cranking out some trimmings with the power adapter (probably due to using WD-40 as lube on the parts?).

My first trimmings were a bit short, and after the shim started sliding with the bar most of mine are short. I don't notice a difference in POI@100yd with the most basic of iron sights...

Should be fine, Ive loaded shorties before with no problems. If it really bothers you resize it a few more times and see if it stretches.
