I would first like to say start low, go up in charge, be safe and responsible. With that being said I would like to share my experiences with my LMT as I have had trouble finding threads on the web pertaining to this platform. In my search to find a good load using Varget this is what I have found:
41.5 GR Varget
C.O.A.L 3.250 measuring from ogive with Hornady bullet comperator.
CCI# 200
175 SMK HPBT. Meplat trimmed and bullet pointed
I uniform cut all my flash holes, separate brass by headstamp and weight. I uniform cut all primer pockets and neck brush the crap out of my brass with a nylon brush.
I have not chronoed my RDS yet. I did zero my rifle with M118 LR. My RDS seem to have the same POA POI as M118 LR. This tells me I'm around 2500-2550 FPS. My group size with my load data is tighter than the M118 LR. My groups are 1/2'' or better. I did not bust out the calipers, wish I did though...dam.
I found the longer I seated my rds the better my groups got. Meplat trimming and bullet pointing helped to achieve longer C.O.A.L and reliable feeding. It also makes a WORLD of difference long range. My LMT did not care for hot loads at all.
My load development was obtained from sierras manual.
