    Read the books, and then go to reloading club, or find local who will show you the ropes. It is nice to see the equipment and get some expierience to base you purchase on.

      You speak the truth. There are a lot of areas you can get into trouble with when you use a progressive. When you are a newbie, you're not even going to know what most of those areas are or why they matter. With a single stage, you go through the process methodically, step by step.

      IMHO, progressives are the domain of more experienced reloaders or anally retentive engineer types.

        Like most people said you will also need a single stage press for your 223 and 308.
        Start out small, get what you need for one caliper, than add on later. Don't overwhelm yourself.
