Decided to go with a Lee Classic Turret

and I am impressed so far...the simplicity is awesome!! it fits on my bench well and seems to load some decent ammo.

I really wasn't convinced on spending a grand on a big blue machine to not get the full use out of it.....I dont need more than a few hundred rounds a months for pistol and that many for my rifle in a year. i was able to crank out a hundred rounds pretty quickly after learning the machine.

I really like the price point on the Lee it is going to allow me to buy a few more turret plates and Pro auto disk for 45 and 223.

Most of the further discussion beyond the clear concise answer is usually people just trying to convince others that the Penal Code/Case Law doesn't really apply because their uncle's friend's cousin's son-in-law works as a gardener for a retired judge from another state who might or might not have said he doesn't think it applies to a certain case that has absolutely nothing to do with the question the OP asked.

LCT is a solid piece of equipment. You'll get a lot of use from it.

Agreed. Best bang for your dollar IMO.

I got one as an early Christmas present (my first press ever). I love it. I've only loaded a few hundred rounds so far, but it has been working great.

Now that I have a good load worked up, I'm going to make my first large run of 1000 rounds to use in a class next month. Should be fun.

Congrats. I love mine and have loaded about 6000 rounds with it. 45 ACP, .223, some 38 SPC. Gotta get some .308 dies on order this week so I can start on that!

I doubt you will be sorry. Been running mine since '09 and have only replaced one ratchet.

In your kit you will find a square piece of plastic. Save that.

If you hand turn the turret a lot eventually you will find the poison combo of timing/turning backwards. That is when you will need to replace that square piece of plastic. They're $.50 a pop from Lee.

Oh yes.... make sure your handle has complete range of motion without contacting your bench or you'll be on the internet asking how to free up a primer that's stuck half in half out.

An excellent choice for a first press, and perhaps the only press you'll ever need. I was using a single stage but when I started to make pistol ammo I got the turret, and I love the heck out of it. Turns out 150 an hour of perfect cartridges...the pro auto disk is amazingly accurate once you find the right hole (Lee's data isn't always quite right).

I even got my wife to load some ammo...she thought it was fun to use the turret press, compared to the single stage. If only I could get her loading when I'm not...

Love mine. Have loaded 4-5000 rounds through mine without an issue (9mm, .357 Magnum, 7.62x54r).. I use mine as a single stage as I personally like keeping every step segregated for accuracy and easy of verification (decap/priming, powder throw, bullet seating, crimp) but that 4 position plate makes things so easy and fast!

I'm really happy with mine. I do about 600 rounds/month for USPSA and then smaller runs of various other calibers just for general use. My ideal system would be a fancy progressive set up just for USPSA and then run the smaller batches on the turret. Maybe next year, but it's OK now.

Once you've used it a bit you might go here: http://inlinefabrication.com/collections/lee and see if any upgrades float your boat. Raising mine up with the ultra mount saved my back, the lighting system's really nice, they have shelving that you can plop the turrets and shell holders into. Very cool.

I do blow out those little plastic squares occasionally and it's good to buy a half dozen of those and maybe the plastic clamp thing it goes into (forget the official part name) since it's easy to strip the threads on that. Basically it's a part that gets sacrificed if anything bad happens, but also it can get worn. Seems to help if you manually turn the turret only when the shell holder's in the up position, or at least clear of the spiral area in the auto index rod.
