    RL 550b diy case feeder

Anyone tried to diy a case feeder for this press?

I'm not so concerned with the mechanical sorter just the tube and below. The assembly that places the casing. I found a YouTube video but its hard to see the parts.

I have the Dillon case feeder exploded schematic but no dimensions.

The part you want is fairly complex.

I run a case feeder on my 550 and I set it up to run rifle brass through the case feeder as well. I had to make a new cam plate that pushes the brass into the shell plate faster. It is not perfect when running rifle brass, but it beats feeding it by hand or switching the press back to hand feeding for loading rifle. Pistol brass feeds very well, as the system is intended for that.

Either feed by hand or pony up and just get the whole case feeder system.

You might be able to just buy the lower part from dillon and feed by hand. I fed the tube by hand before I got the large rifle plate. Getting the right plate and letting the collator work is much nicer now.

Just an idea...i won't have the budget for it for a long time. Too many other things ahead of it.

I wouldn't tell anyone not to DIY something; there is a lot of value apart from cost in DIYing something. Having said that Dillon does not make a rifle case feeder for the 550, and that's telling. Also CGT80's recommendation of buying the lower end is very smart. That's the business end, and the case sorter/dropper is easy, lots of videos on youtube about constructing one.
weg: That device is obsolete now. They replaced it with wizards.
frank: Wait a minute. There are more than one wizard? Is [are?] the wizard calibrated?
