wild_weasel what is the twist of your rifle? I am presuming you probably have a 16" ?

It is a Del Ton (DTI) 16" mid-length, light-weight, 1/9" twist, unlined (not chromed) bore. The only thing I did special was to use JB Bore Shine the first time I cleaned the upper out of the box from Midway, unlike Mini-14's I have owned in the past, the point of aim (POI) stays constant from a cold clean bore to a hot dirty bore. If anything after 500 rounds I think the groups have tightened up a bit!

Thanks, the group looks great. Did you measure the bullet by the olgive or just OAL?

I seat and crimp the Hornady FMJ-BT .224 bullets to mid cannelure, using the RCBS seater then apply the final crimp with the Lee Factory Crimp die. I use a Lee Factory Crimp die on my 45-70 with Remington 405gr bullets as well.

I don't think shooting loads at 25yds is a real good test of precision loads. I think atleast 100yds scoped or 50yds to 100yds irons.

            Just my 2cents

Switch that load to a 50gr vmax & those coyotes are in trouble.

I actually have a couple of the 250 bulk packs of those, I reloaded some with CFE223 and they shot well in my S&W Sport with 1/8 5R barrel.

I have been using 335 for almost the whole time i have been reloading since 97.I did try 4895 once cause thats all they had in stock a few years ago.

Most of my 55fmj loads are 24.5 and those are my plinker loads. They are actually pretty accurate and group well too.
For my match loads(69SMK) they love 23.5 of h335 for my 20 inch barrel armalite 1x9 twist.

Hornady FMJBT, Tula SRP and LC brass. 24. and 24.3 grains gave me good groupings at 100 yards. Went up to 25.2 grains but the two lower weight charge was still the best for my 16" 1/7 barrel.
