Winchester "Miliary" 00 buck anyone?

So these "military" 00 buck have the OD green hulls, are they good ammo?

or just some fluke 2nds from the mil spec production line that they market off as "military"

seriously... and why the heck are they $1 a round?

I dont know about that stuff, but the federal xm127 buck that gets sold in the 50 cal ammo can is great stuff.

Not sure what production line these come from, but I've ran them through both semis and pumps without a hiccup so I would say they are GTG.

I wouldn't pay $1 per round though.....keep an eye on the Cabelas ads as they frequently put them on sale.

That's the lowest grade buck out there. Cork wad, no buffer, large pattern.

I just picked some up at walmart. It had light surface rust on it.

I don't know what the deal with that is but it's the last time I'm going to buy it.

For the record, when I was in the Navy, we used Winchester Super X buck in the standard red hulls. This military grade stuff is a marketing gimmick.

I like the super X's
one of my local FFL's stock only Winchester Super X so I'll probably have to drop by and clean them out

As a current serving Marine who carried a shotgun overseas, yes this is the same 00 buckshot we currently use, it's not the best stuff but hey, it never designed to dropped dear at 50 yards, it was designed for 25 yds on a two legged target.... Xm855 or any other standard military ammo was never designed to be awesome sporting or target ammo (except the m118 LR or match 5.56). $1/rd does seem a tad on the expensive side though

It's expensive right now because everything is expensive right now. I have several cases of this same ammo and it is very good 00 buckshot. I bought mine about four years ago when it wasn't a $1/round however. Like the Teufel above stated, it isn't the sexiest ammo on the market, but it is pretty decent mankiller ammo.

They are not price too bad. I've seen this at Walmart for around 5 bucks.
