    Trimmer Recommendation?

What brand of trimmer are you using / would recommend? Also what kind of accuracy can be expected + - 2-3 thousandths or ?

I don't plan on "processing" thousands of pieces at a time but 100-200.

    Thanks

30 days til my Giraud arrives!

for 100-200 at a time you'd be pushing it to go with the lee ball cutter/drill attachment...but it will work.

to do it all over I'd spend the money on an electric, likely the lyman. I love all their products and find myself getting more and more. I have their universal trimmer but it's hand-powered, which gets old pretty quick.

WFT...like a boss. I can usually do 3-400 an hour without a problem. If you factor in chamfer and deburred add another 1/2 hour. That's where the $$$ trimmer beats the WFT.

One trimmer is not enough. You need a lathe type, like a lyman or RCBS. The benchrest guys (on the benchrest forums) that do not use the Giraud or WFT usually use the lyman. I use the rcbs since I found it used at a gunshow (trimmers are not cheap!)

Anyways, you need a lathe type because they are basically universal. They come with a pilot set or a collet set or both, and will do just about any cartridge under the sun. Just add a cordless drill and you are done.

After that, you need your purpose built trimmer. FT, Giraud, whatever. The one that needs special hardware for that one cal you shoot a lot of, but there's no point in buying a $30 adapter for EVERY caliber you shoot, that's just silly.

For this, I like the lee trimmers because I chuck the cutter in my lathe and timed myself trimming 400 cases in 15 minutes (including deburr and chamfer). That's fast enough for me. But I bought my father in law a WFT for this purpose and that seems to be very well respected by shooters.

Without the Giraud one-cal price tag

http://youtube lyman ezee trim I don't know how to put in the you tube link but this lyman ezee trim works off your drill and comes with all the common rifle pilots I bought it on ebay for 25 bucks and it seems to work good especially if your on a budget.

Old problems are like dry poop, if you let the dry poop sit it doesn't smell but the minute you decide to stir the poop with a stick, the smell comes back. Moral of the story, Don't bring up old problems!

There are a few old timers that still use them.
