Hornady AP Shell Plate For 5.7X28

A friend has an FN 57 that he would like to reload for. His press is a Hornady LNL AP press. It look like Hornady doesn't make a shell plate for that press and that size. Does someone else make one that would be compatible?

Time for a single stage or possibly a ................Dillon

Oh the 5.7X28 can be a real touchy cartridge to load for. Braas has a short life as it is streached quite a bit when fired.
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

5.7 is TOUGH to reload bud, take my advice for this. The brass doesnt hold up well, the tolerances have to be just right with the load, everything has to be perfect. You dont do that on a progressive, you do it on a single stage, checking and checking again before you feed that stuff through your gun. Be careful

My uncle reloads 5.7 on a single stage. He gets 203 uses out of the brass. Remember, you CANNOT tumble it, it removes the plastic coating.

My uncle swishes them in a bucket of water and simple green for a couple minutes.

Elite Ammo sells spring kits for both the 5-7 and PS90 which help reduce the blowing out of the case neck. Lighter loading plus the spring kits may get you an additional loading out of the brass cases.

It does have tight tolerances for sure. Remember that most load data for 5.7 has the min to max loads within .6 grains of each other (some are .4). This is within the advertised margin of error for some powder drops. I end up weighing each load to be on the side of caution.

This is something that I am waffling about. I have been using my wet tumbler with just simple green in it. I have gotten to the point where I have reloaded some of my 5.7 brass 6-7 times. I do have a lot that the exterior coating has worn completely off and continue to cycle just fine.

I am almost to the point that I am going to try wet tumbling with pins and see if I can get these rounds to hang up...

Maybe the coating comes into play more with the PS-90 than the FiveseveN? I'm not sure.

Are you shooting a Five Seven?

The coating is only necessary for feeding in PS90 mags- and it may affect us less since the 10 rounders are pre-loaded as if they have 40 rounds in them, and the spring is stiffer
