    Herters Super 0 Maximum

Just picked up a Super 0 Maximum. This thing looks like a beast!
Anyone have any experience with this press?
Are they similar in strength and quality of the rcbs A's?

looks like a pretty old press. did you buy it for nostalgic reasons or do you plan on this being a production press? I've never heard of it until now. probably got discontinued or that branch of the company got bought out.

Alittle of both, Kinda just came across it.
And the ram seems tight and it looks strong. Definitely heavy.
Just don't know anything about it.

so you bought something you know nothing about?

I would safely assume most older and antique reloading equipment is built to last; they actually put pride and effort into things built "back in the day"...a rare trait now.

Some of the Herter's were threaded for proprietary dies. Check if yours is threaded for the standard 7/8x14 tpi.

Also Herter's were known for having their own shell holders although they did make an adapter to fit the standard style.

Herters press's are fine -- but do take a different shellholder -
Adapters are available from CH and RCBS --
I forget which shellholder the O uses, the screw in or large button?
Your press was probably made about 1965 to 1975.
Bought my Herter #3 in about 1960 for $12.95, it's still going strong.
Regarding non standard dies- they originally come with a bushing from
              1 1/4" to 7/8" as do some other press's -
The large diameter thread is for shotshell dies.

Well, I knew it was a single stage and seems to function fine.
I more or less was hoping someone had some experience with this particular model.

You are correct, it does use a proprietary shell holder. I'll have to get the adapter from rcbs.
And im not sure about the button vs screw in shell holders. I'll check and let you know.
Thanks for the info guys. Lol forward to getting it mounted and start using it!

                    How about a pic

Can you post a pic or two? I tried YouTube but couldn't find anything on it. If you can post a pic I would appreciate it as I would like to see what the old press looks like. Thanks.
