About to finish my first AR10/DPMS308. It has an 18" barrell with 1-10 twist. What bullets grains do you recommend? I'm more after cheaper and fun than accuracy. Yet also still a little curious about accuracy. If than makes sense. ;-)

The Hornady #3037 150gr .308 Bullets would be perfect for your application and you can find them pretty much anywhere.NRA Life Member

Hornady 150g sst. Perfect bullet for the gun. Nosler ballistic tip hunting is similar to AMAX but a lot cheaper. Buy your bullets from Powder Valley is a good option, Pulled bullets are a bit harder to find, but they are cheaper if you can find them, though if you want consistent loads and accuracy, I like to stay with what is known, like Hornady.Comment

I use Nosler 168 HPBT. I don't use off brand bullets which leaves me with the Hornady 150 FMJ but that is only a few cents cheaper than the Nosler. Since reloading rifle cartridges is a lot of work, I prefer to spend a bit more and get a better bullet.Check back later for a witty comment.Comment

175 or 168 SMK are pretty affordable for the excellent accuracy and ballistics they provide. Usually cost about 30 cents a round if you buy in bulk.
For me the fun part is having the capability of hitting my target especially at longer ranges. Which is why I only use 175 SMK's. If you only want to shoot to a few hundred yds then almost anything should serve you okay. But I would take advantage of that 1:10 twist and run some 175 SMK's.Comment
