    6.5 Carcano load data

I'm wanting to load some cast lead 140 grain bullets for my 6.5 carcano, but haven't found any load data. I want to use H4895. The only loads I've found are for jacketed rounds. Can anyone help?

Have you slugged your barrel yet? Finding a cast bullet to fit your barrel is going to be the biggest challenge. I wasn't able to find one that fit my barrel w/o going to a custom made mould. Doing a Google search for "cast bullet load data 6.5 Carcano" will be your next step.

Rifling decent? Might turn into a lead-o-matic if it's rough. I will be following this thread, since I have one too, paid $10 for ir in the '70's.

Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook, 3rd Ed., Page 155, 6 loads for lead bullets in 6.5mm Italian or 6.5x52mm Carcano. Bullets are 119 grain (Lyman Mold 266324), 129 gain (266455) and 143 grain (266469). Powder is 2400 and Unique. No data for H4895.

The 143 grain data uses 8.0(start) to 10.0 (Max) grains of Unique for 1296 FPS to 1481 FPS. The 2400 loads start at 15.0 (start) and go to 18.0 (Max) grains for 1545 to 1763 FPS.

            Hope this helps some.

PS - You may want to check the manuals on this page to see who else cover it. Go down to row 1774 and 31 different manuals have load data for it.
