    Dillon 1050 primer Kaboom

Had a whole primer magazine Kaboom on me this morning. I'm fine. Broke a few pieces on the press.

As I have never had this happen before, and it seems like this sort of thing is probably due to user error.............

What are the normal causes for blowing up a primer and then getting sympathetic detonation of all the rest in the magazine?
Competition is where you find out you're slow, can't see well, are not accurate, have poor gun handling, can't visualize, have equipment that doesn't work and either accept it OR DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

if loading 45 they have small primed cases now and if you do not find it and try to push a large primer into a small primer hole then kaboom, (yeah i did it twice)

You blew up the primer feed tube on the press? Pics? What primers? When did it blow? on the primer seat, or first drop? Only time I've ever heard of that is static discharge, primers are very sensitive to that.

Happened to my buddy before. I think he was loading 223 though... Crushed a primer just the right way. Blew up all the primers in the tube and launched the primer rod off like a rocket... They run 45 on top of the rods and it got stuck into the drywall on the ceiling

tiller, what press was he running? On my Square Deal and on my 550B, the primer is transferred away from the steel magazine tube into the primer seat position by the sliding arm. Don't know about 650's or 1050's because I don't have those.

Same thing happened to my dad loading 45acp. Call Dillon, it's a known design defect.

Care to elaborate on this known design defect, inquiring minds want to know.

Static discharge is just physics, not a design defect. Which press would you use?

Yup, I wear Polycarbonate safety glasses behind a full face shield and heavy leather gloves to for primer pickup. You can't replace your eyes. Before I drop the primers into the magazine tube, I take the glove off and touch the press to get rid of any static charge build up. My primer pickup tubes are lined with high pressure air hose tubing to contain any explosion. That's my method.

Lmao no.... It's user error.... With the 1050 you have an automatic primer sorter for 45 acp... Use your swager as a sorter... When loading larger primer.... If you get a squishy ness on the down stroke go right to the swage station... Low and behold you will have a small primer case before you blow your ***** up
