How do you guys deal with zeroing your scope when you have multiple loads? Do you guys go hit the range and zero and then get going? Currently I zeroed my scope for my pet loads in each rifle. If I develop a new load due to scarcity of product, trying something new, different shooting environment etc etc. When I settle on a load, in my logbook I'll write what mil adjustments I have to make from the scopes zero to hit the bull. Is that pretty much the common way?

Multiple loads and zero

ive never had a problem with it being so far off u need to re zero it, how far out do u usually shoot? -
I have some loads that shoot to the same point of aim(or very close) using different bullets/powders. So those I can change without doing anything to the scope.
Others if I change loads I go to the range and rezero the scope for the hunt.
These are all hunting loads with K.I.S.S. hunting scopes.
I keep a list of what loads interchange and also what loads each rifle/pistol is zeroed in with.A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

The question is more geared towards medium to long range, going anywhere from 600yds with .223 to 1k with .308. I don't shoot for groups at distance, just hitting steel.
For plinking ammo, or any ammo that stays within 200yds I wouldn't worry about this.Comment

I do have loads that have same poa/poi. I don't hunt but I would definitely rezero for whatever load I'd take in that instance.Comment

this
I always write down how many mils to dial from powder to powder, bullet type to bullet type etc etc

Yes I have a good amount of hard dope on all me loads including cold bore, clean bore, adjustments at 50yd increments under different weather conditions. But every time I gather data I will always zero my scope for that load and then walk off all the distances to confirm soft dope.
@Exodus - do you zero for one load and then write adjustments from powder to powder etc? That's what I do. Right now my scope is zeroed for my favorite 168gr load, and all other zeros are adjustment written from that zeroComment

I only zero with the most common load I shoot through a particular rifle. If I develop a different load, I shoot it at 100uds to determine the zero offset.
Then, I build a profile for that load in my ballistics program and I include the offste.
Then, I just let the ballistics program correct my soft dope for the different load...Randall Rausch

I usually zero with the bottom charge weight or the middle of my charges (shooting 43.0 to 45.5gr I zero with 44.0gr charge)
You could just use the zero from another bullet or load but don't be surprised if your POI is off by a bit. It sucks.. Ask me how I know haha
Did a OCW test and zero was way off. Pretty much a waste of 35 loads. Had to completely reshoot the test.Comment
