    OAL problem.

Hi guys, I have an embarrassingly noobish question... I made a run of 40 S&W with 180gr rnfp Xtreme over 4.2gr Win231 in SS tumbled range pickup brass (mostly my own once fired Remington) with Federal Champion spp.

I thought I was setting OAL to 1.125" but somehow they all came out 1.25".

Can I just use the seating die (rcbs carbide) to push the bullet down further or do I need to pull and remake them?

    Thanks!

    just seat it further down,
mind you I would use caliper for each round to be 100% safe about everything

I usually load 180g's for .40 W/ 4.8-5.0 of HP38/ WST at 4.2 you are likely at the low low end of the load so bullet depth can make a big difference. Just change the depth on the machine and run it again. No big deal. (although I think the Speer 49th ed. calls for 1.25 on those depending on bullet configuration.

you can simply throw them back on the bullet seating die and re-adjust the depth you want. you can do this since you are on the high side.

now, if you went to short, then yes, you might need to use a puller to either get the bullet to "walk" out a little bit over your intended OAL, then re-seat them back down.

Reseated them all to 1.125... It's for a Glock 23... When I tried to manually load them when they were 1.25, the were visibly too long for the magazine. We will be shooting them tomorrow... Do I need to be worried about this configuration?

180gr Xtreme rnfp, 4.2gr Win231, federal champion spp, OAL 1.125?
