I was resizing 308 and thought I lubed all cases properly .. guess not ..

Im so clueless here .. I tried heating up the die , but no luck . I have some basic tools , but nothing I can take this out with ...

damm .. I still have about 450 cases to go

what kind of die? If its a Lee, it is simple to free the case (check youtube). also change to Dillon or any other lanoline case lube. I have never had a stuck case and doubt I will ever have a stuck case using lanolin.

I think the last time that happened, I slide the case back into the shell holder and got it out with a little force. It was tough...... Its only happened to me 1 time, and it was a case that I was saving for a project and it fell in my pile. I take it that LC machine gun brass?

Visegrip on the case add another die lock ring to jam against the other lock ring...large adjustable crescent wrench or deep socket or vice to hold die...twist case out with vice grip

after.. i think one stuck case is enough for today . yea I think its from machine gun LC brass ..most of em are pretty stiff on die

I recently had my first stuck case with that garbage lube.... I've sized over 300k cases with rcbs case lube 2, and never a problem....

Was helping out someone set up there press and we were using the DCL. Sure enough... Sucker got stuck!


It's an ok lube for pistol.... Not for rifle! Plain and simple

You must be using a spray on lube. I've had precisely 2 stuck cases. Both times I was using one shot(spray on). Never had a problem with the RCBS case lube and pad. I ruined one die, the second I got out with a drill and tap and a bolt and socket.

Lake City brass is pretty tough stuff, check those cases really well if that's a batch of store bought once fired. I have used a ton of those cases but the only way to size them reliably was to use rub on lube like unique or imperial size wax. Invest in a case gauge if you're running those through a gas gun. My Lee .223 die is particularly picky about lube, it will stick a case that would run fine through my RCBS dies.

I currently use full synthetic oil . yea I have to watch some cases , now I usually sorta know which one will give me hard time in beginning of sizing . then I just take it out and toss em .. mostly 1 out 20 or so . man ~ that was not fun .

You should switched dies and lube if you have that bad of a problem!

I've never had any issues with factory rounds ( which I have loaded about 1000 ) . To me , it only occurs with LC's .. then again , sellers doesn't indicates those brass are out of machine gun or so . just once fired ..

BTW , is full synthetic motor oil consider low quality of case lube ?

The Lake City stuff is just tough which is why I like it for the M1A. .556 fired in an M4 chamber does the same thing but its usually easier to size. After each firing I look inside with a flashlight, sometimes they are visibly stretched right out of the bag. They can grow as much as .018-.020 after two firings. Even though I hate it and its messy, the Imperial size wax does the trick.
