    Precision Bullets 9mm load data

    Hi guys,
I have 9mm 125gr Precision Bullets. They are a moly coated lead. Precision says to use data for lead and my Calgun search fu is weak.

I have Lyman, Hornady, and Lee loading manuals and am not getting far.

I have titegroup, bluedot, wst, #7, and power pistol mainly.

Can anyone offer some of their recipes?

Related to that, I want to validate the idea that lead bullets offer slightly less resistance in the barrel so I would use slightly less powder if I follow a jacketed recipe.

I'm not looking for snappy loads. Just something to plink with that has worked well for others.

    Thanks, Paul

You're not going to get much info on the powders you have. they're not the most popular powders for lead bullets.

the only piece of data i found was from hodgdon.com. btw, you should check the powder company sites first.
    125 GR. LCN Hodgdon Titegroup .356" 1.125"
    3.6 1002 22,900 CUP 4.0 1096 30,400 CUP

    Personally, I use HP38 or W231 for my lead loads. 4.3 to 4.5gr under a .356" 122gr or 125gr hardcast lead bullets.

      From my own data:
      Bear Creek LRN 125gr
      Power Pistol 5.0gr
      1.110 OAL
      1039fps Avg @ 63 degrees from a S&W M&P
      SD= 10.1fps

      ETA: Lyman 48th lists 4.8 start - 5.4 max @ 1.115 OAL

        TG will prolly cause leading.

Use WST with 231 starting data.

I switched to Precision bullets after my supply of Delta Precision bullets ran out. Precision Bullet was the only company that would ship to APO addresses, noone else would. So much for supporting our military folks.
I used both 231 and Blue dot and didn't have any problems with lead fouling in my gun. When my databook arrive with my household goods shipment at the end of October, I'll let you know what my load was, but I recall something like
4.3 gr 231 and I don't remember the Blue Dot load.

I use 4.5g WST, but you should work up that. Always check for pressure signs, use a chrono (if available) to check your fps spreads.

I just got my reloading book today and for winchester 231, I used 4.4 grains, and for blue dot, I used 6.8-7.0 grains. OAL for both loads was 1.125".
Both of these loads work well in my 9mm Hi-Power but I don't know how it would work in other guns. Give it a try and let us know how it goes.
I was getting 1100 fps with the blue dot load, but never didn't clock the 231 load. I'll do it one of these days when I get the motivation.

Don't take the easy way and just copy others loads. To get an idea is fine but don't just throw and go cause some guy runs a certain charge.

Work your load up a little. I know it's tedious but it's part of reloading.

I run both Bear Creek and Precision at the same load, 4.0grs TiteGroup at 1.100" overall. Goes about 1,150fps out of my G34. Yes, it is not the cleanest load..

                    So here's my brief update.
I really don't like tweaking my OAL so I'm using 1.125
                    Precision 125gr. Titegroup at 3.6.
Shot 20 rounds each through two different pistols.
I just cleaned both and no signs of lead. I'm guessing that's too few to really tell but I'll see tomorrow. Will be using more of these tomorrow and will also try some at 3.8gr

As for tedious, I'm in. I don't mind load development at all.
Was just looking for some others experiences and any cautionary tales if available. I think I like jacketed better in general but I have a ton of these Precision Bullets.
After I see how tomorrows loads work out I'll start to chrono. I'm still way under factory based on recoil.
Thanks to all for their data.

Hey, I'm loading to 1.125" also. If you decide not to use the Precision bullets, I can buy them from you. I'll be back in the bay area around Christmas and can buy them at that time. How much do you have?
With Bluedot, I started with 5.5 grains and eventually worked up to 7.0, but your experience may vary.

Update on 125 gr Precision Bullets with Titegroup

                        So here's the latest.

                        Precision Bullet 125 gr. Titegroup at 3.8 O.A.L 1.125

Shot about 80 rounds today and really liked the feel. Thinking about taking it up a grain or two until I looked at the barrel tonight. Could barely see the riffling. Accuracy didnot suffer so I'm a little confused. I'm guessing the build up was gradual and if the barrel was hot there was no perceived change? Would have there been any drama had I not checked/cleaned the barrel and went to shoot a jacketed round?

Spent a fair amount of time scrubbing and soaking and finally got the barrel back into shape.
You called it right J Cat re the leading. Will try a different powder with those Precision Bullets.
