    First Reloading Setup

So I just ordered a bunch of gear to start my first reloading bench. But I have a few specific questions:

I got an RCBS Supreme Master Reloading Kit, it seemed like a decent starting point to build up from.

I am going to go with Redding Type S dies - my question is what else do I need to be able to start reloading .308?

I have some minor things on the way already as well, calipers, trickler, bullet puller, stand for the powder dispenser. I will eventually get the RCBS 1500 Chargemaster, but I am going to be using the powder dispenser and trickler from RCBS for a while.

    But what am I missing?

a reloading manual, hell get a few of them.

and a lot of bushings for the type-s

case lube - RCBS case lube pad or Imperial Wax
unless you already bought it, just build a stand for the powder dispenser (galvanized pipe from the hardware store works great)

***unless you are going to be weighing (balancing) every charge (I used to for some time) a good/decent electric scale is a good idea.
if you are weighing every charge I wouldn't even worry about the powder dispenser, just get a set of Lee Dippers or some other scoop

and the charge master is friggin awesome!

I have the rock crusher stater kit. RCBS has great kits.

All that was missing from mine to load was dies, caliper, trimmer and a shell holder. After that I had everything I needed for my 308.

      GL you'll love your kit.

Reloading manuals arent an issue. My friend who got me into all of this has many of them and said I am free to borrow and I want.

"and a lot of bushings for the type-s"

          Any advice here?

And am I missing anything else to be able to start reloading?

          =Imperial Case Lube
          =Shell Holder
          =Bushings (.336 -.338)

Forgot to mention I am going to get one of the WFTrimmers. Seems like a good option from people I've talked to, and I am interested in trying one.

            "WF trimmer"? Wilson trimmer?

the bushings - the Redding Type-S is a bushing neck sizer if I am not mistaken, that you will need bushing for.
            for .308 .336 -.338 "Should" work

Little Crow Gunworks developed the World's Finest Trimmer as a precision tool that will last a lifetime. One of the unique features is that the WFT uses a source of power that most reloaders already own.

Thanks for the Bushing sizes too, checking them out.

                  Forget the pad.
Get the RCBS pump spray. Less messy, easier to use and clean up. Works on all brass. I use it for 204Ruger thru 50BMG and do not get stuck cases unless I screw up.
That said get the RCBS Stuck case remover and the gizmo that you screw down next to the press that has 3 brushes and mica in it to inside neck lube.

Get ammo boxes for your loaded ammo and an extra tray for your brass when loading.
A 4-5" funnel to put on top of the powder measure(after you cut it to about 1" long) for more accurate throws.
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

Got those already. I've been reloading at my friends place. Finally decided to pony up and start my own bench.

Excellent pick for a press package. Everything included in that kit is a quality item worth owning.

Thanks guys. Looks like .335-338 is a good bet on the neck bushing dies, will order those up, and probably end up with more in the coming weeks.

As always, quick and helpful. Much appreciated.

I also vote for spending the extra (always seems easier spending someone else's money) for the titanium nitride bushings.

I am having a hard time finding any of the neck bushings in stock, let alone the TN bushings.

I may have missed it… but are you loading for a semi or a bolt action?

If you are loading for a bolt action… I would consider the Lee collet neck die.

It sounds like a cheap option but that is my favorite die for neck sizing… my results down range are excellent.
