Found some obsolete 8X57 ammo, need data for it

    Hey all!

I found a box of old PMC 8X57 ammo. Is this stuff loaded down, like the Remington factory 170 gr ammo, or is it loaded hotter? Anyone know where I can get the data for it? PMC does not list it on their site.

    Thanks!

    obsolete?

That's about 15 years old. If that's obsolete I must be a dinosaur.
    Shoot that without any worries.

Obsolete = they don't make it any more. Yeah, I plan to shoot it. I'm just wondering if it's a reduced powder load or on the level of Norma ammo.

I've got a box of Hornady 150 SP bullets and half a pound of WW748 collecting dust. Thinking of working up a load for the next official Calguns Mosin vs Mauser Plinker Shutzen.

Guess nobody has the answer readily available. Seek out old literature if possible, or shoot it to see. My wild A guess is that it is US type specification (lower pressure). Likely would have a reputation if otherwise and probably be marked JS on the package instead of Mauser.

From my experience only American stuff is under loaded, it should be fairly warm since NOV IS Korea

I think it will be middle of the road, like the PRVI I have shot in mine. Are you worried about the recoil, or the rifle?

Thanks guys! A friend found an old PMC catalog online. It's listed velocity was 2300 FPS. Now I can guesstimate the BC and trajectory.
