Much as I hate to shop there, Wal-mart has the cheapest price on Winchester bulk packs of 9mm. Other than that just wait for a gunshow and see what kind of deal you can get on reloads.

The current Milwall price for 9mm FMJ 115gr. is $195.00 per thousand plus tax and or shipping.

Walmart is the cheapest near where I live.

I don't know if it's a great deal or not, but I just bought 600 rounds for $140 at Cabela's online. Added a box of HD ammo to bring it up past $150, and you get free shipping using 68FREE in the promotion code box. Total of $156 for all of it.

I think that Miwall had Wolf for $150 / 1000 at the CM gunshow also.

wolf is the cheapest i saw... even cheaper than the reloads. if you don't mind a little extra time cleaning your weapon, use it... it's gone bang everytime i've pulled the trigger.

Are there many ranges that allow you to use that brand?

The few ranges I've gone to don't mind Wolf, Ithink the only ones that will have an issue are the ranges that keep your brass and reload it, they don't want the Wolf steel cases and they've figured keeping your brass into the cost of range fees, goofy rule because if you shoot .22 they don't reload that either. I've also heard that certain ranges don't want the bimetal jackets on the range because they could hit a rock causing sparks and possibly fire.

I orded a bunch of Wolf from Centerfire and after shipping it worked out to about $0.19rd, went to Wally-World today and picked up a few boxes of Winchester white-box and they worked out to $0.19rd after tax, and they had the Remmington UMC bulk packs at $0.20rd after tax.

It's sort of a toss-up, Wolf is good stuff and I don't mind the extra cleaning, but waiting on a shipment kinda sucks, and nowhere around here sells it, if I could get it for the same price localy even with tax it would be cheaper than getting it shipped. The Remmington and Winchester are good stuff as well, but you have to deal with Wal-Mart, don't care what your political feelings are, that place sucks! But you can at least stop and pick some up whenevr you want, no shipping delay.

For me, Walmart is the cheapest for target ammo for my 9mm. I buy the 100 rnd value packs and usually but 5 boxes each trip. Last time I bought it was $18.62 a box.

For my SD ammo, I am slowly stocking up on Hornady TAP 124gr JHP. The cost to buy in bulk is prohibitive at this time for me. Unless, of course, somebody can clue me in to a really good deal.

The cheapest by far would be to reload your own. Right now, my reloads are costing me 7.5 cents per round compared to the 19 cents that wal-mart sells their's for.

Reloading would not be beneficial until you've recouped the cost of equipment..which would probably take years and thousands of reloaded rounds. I know I'd love to reload if I already had the equipment..I've seen people claim they can make good 9mm plinking ammo for around 15 cents a round.

If you go low budget but still quality equipment (Lee Anniversery) and buy enough for 1000 rounds, you are at about $320 and that includes shipping except for powder and primers which you would want to buy locally. So $0.32/round. Now, your next several thousand rounds till you wear our your brass will cost you $0.12/round. You breakeven right around 2000 rounds.

Not bad IMO. The real deal is now lets say you wanna add 45 ACP (cheap stuff is $0.30/round). Because you only have to buy dies, your first 1000 only costs $0.25/round, then $0.14 reloading same brass. You save money from the 1st round on...

Yeah, with .40sw or .45acp, your rate of return is much faster. Even faster with rifle rounds.
