Benchmark w/ CCI400 review in LT PredatAR and M&P15 Sport

    So loaded up the following:

    55gr Everglades .223 Version 1 FMJ bullet
    CCI400 primers
Mixed brass, mainly LC worked to .223, trimmed to .175"
    Hodgdon Benchmark
    OAL: 2.200"
Loads: 24.0gr, 24.5gr, 25.0gr, and 25.5gr, all trickled and measured on scale.

Rifle: Larue Tactical PredatAR, 1:8 twist, 18" barrel, .223 wylde chambered, Vortex PST 1-4x scope, 50 yards.
    ** 24.0 gr - sub- 1/2" group.
** 24.5 gr - 1.5" group (had a couple bad trigger pulls and sight picture during trigger pull).
    ** 25.0 gr - 1/2" group.
** 25.5 gr - 1.75" group (for whatever reason, this load opened up. Could be me though and will be doing another load to get closer to my pet load).

Going to try with a higher powered scope with a better reticle. It was hard to get real accurate shots considering I have a 1MOA black dot.

    Rifle: S&W M&P15 Sport, 1:8 twist, 16" barrel, 5.56 chambered with CMR 1-4x scope.
    ** 24.0 gr - 1" group.
    ** 24.5 gr - 1.5" group.
    ** 25.0 gr - 1/2" group! (best load)
** 25.5 gr - 1" group. Ended up shooting fairly high of POA, but still had a 1" group

Going to try with a higher powered scope with a better reticle. It was hard to get real accurate shots considering I have a 1MOA black dot

Looks like 25.0 grains of Benchmark might be your best load if you are planning on one load that works well for both rifles.

Thanks for the info!! I'm just starting to work up a load with benchmark. Some good data points to consider.

Im going to be working up more loads soon and will post these along with pictures (didn't bring the camera to the range last time).

Going to try out Benchmark, 8208XBR, and maybe 748 (if I can get it).
Going to do 55gr, and some other stuff (if I get it).
