    Lee 50th anniversary reloading kit

Saw this on RFC, thought someone might be interested. It's an awfully lot of stuff for the price, just what a newbie needs.

I'm getting one for my birthday in November. Told my wife, parents, and in laws, they could all chip in on it.

There are two kits from Lee. One has a hand primer the other does not. Get the hand primer kit IMO.

I had the hand priming system and switched to the auto prime. The auto prime is super fast once it gets adjusted.

Another Lee kit owner here. I got the "Anniversary" kit and would recommend it. It is actually very useful to be able to prime on the press. The Safety Prime system works very well once you get used to it.

I bought the Autoprime and shell holders separately (about $30 total) but wish I had paid the $10 extra for the "Ergo Prime" instead. The AP works fine, but if doing more than about 50 my thumbs start to get sore. Its motion is to push the lever away from you, while with the Ergo you pull it towards you, using your fingers and more of your hand strength.

There's my two cents on the kits...and worth every penny!

This is a fine little kit to get started and will produce plenty of high-quality ammo. Heck, I started on the little cheapie $30 "Lee Reloader Press", and it's still goin' strong (it's primarily my boolit resizer now).

Thanks. I just got into reloading earlier this year and enjoying it and learning more each week. I bought the Lee Breech Challenger Kit From FS Reloading for two reasons. The price and if I don't like reloading, no big loss. But, reloading is relaxing to me. Take a little bit of pride doing it as well.

Try to keep us all up to date and good luck.

Great kit, and a great way to start reloading!!!

I bought mine three years ago, and the only bad thing about it is that it only cost $82 back then (I just looked it up right now)! I use it for .38 Special, 40 S&W, and .223, and can turn out several hundred rounds an hour.

I bought the same kit (except with the hand primer) a couple of years ago and it has worked out pretty well. A lot of people don't like the scale, as it is extremely sensitive but I have gotten used to it. Just don't try to use it under a running ceiling fan or you will never get it zeroed.

I would recommend gluing the knob onto the handle or otherwise securing it. It is only pressed on and will come loose over time. Mine slipped off while I was sizing some .308 and the bare end of the handle gouged my wrist.

The quick change bushings are a nice feature. You will want to buy some extras so that you can set up your most-used dies in them. They save a lot of time when changing dies or switching calibers. I prefer the ones with the built in locking collar, but the plain ones work fine as well.

I bought a second identical press (about $60) and now have one in the house as well as out in the shed. I can load inside or outside depending on the weather and my mood. With the dies set up in the bushings, I can pop them into either press without having to readjust anything.

Check eBay, these kits are often listed for about $120 shipped.

The kits are really good. As for the scale I use a digital scale. It's easier and faster. As for the knob, I ran into the same thing. The knob came off. JB Weld cured that.

As for eBay, forget it. Buy from these guys....https://fsreloading.com/ you'll be glad you did.
