I'm no expert on terminal ballistics, but I won't line up to get shot with a bullet that deforms like that.
If I have my history right, reports on soft lead is that it mushrooms well but that it tends to "splatter" and skid rather than "break through". Dunno though as I have never tested in anything that could tell me if that is the case at these velocities. I know folks shot lead-tin through 357 magnum so that has to be similar velocities. Not much on terminal ballistics from those days. I do know a lot of people died to lead bullets in the cartridge era.

As for the expansion most pure lead come apart at that level of expansion, splitting. Hard lead castings shatter. Tin, it appears, at high alloying makes the bullet more plastic.

Maybe, but you're shooting a short 30 cal pistol, right? So, no gristle or fat layer on pigs, but rather a load for people (God forbid), right?

Eh. We are soft and pink. I'm still not lining up to get shot with that!

Yup, pistol 5.5" barrel, roller delayed.

I liked the idea of the SD qualities of high energy .30 cal bottle necked pistol cartridge but I ran into the problem of overpenetration. I think lead really solves it. Dunno how a DA would like PC lead though....

They make some commercial hollow pointed bullets and ammo but the HP ammo is so underpowered it isn't even funny (the bullet does not even expand).

One of these days I am going to get an HK in .357 Sig to play with.
