Tighten Primer Pockets

So since i have been reloading 308 Winchester. I started with a large batch of federal brass and 210m primers. I started working up loads and settled on a hot load simply because it was the most accurate. 0.444in for 5 shots. I noticed after about 3 loads my primers seat very loose. they wont fall out but they are not as tight as it used to be. Any way to fix this. The brass is fine, ive never had a split neck, neck tension has never been a problem. I'm just losing my brass to primer pockets... Any help would be appreciated

** I searched a bit and only found Harts pocket tightener(or something like that) but the reviews were terrible.

More to the point ... No ... Nothing much you can do to tighten the pocket short of crimping it.

Time to toss them and lighten your load. People easily get 10 reloads out of .308 brass.

sounds like that is the key. I just really dont want to work up a new load... *sigh*

This is why I simply avoid Federal brass regardless of the caliber.

im thinking of just getting some LC brass and spending a day or so prepping it. 308 Brass is becoming hard to find.

Federal brass is known for this, try using WW or LC brass and you will get more use even when loaded hot.

if you do LC brass drop your powder charge at least 5%. lake city and other "military" brass is thicker and thus reduces case capacity, which could create dangerously high pressure with an already hot load. good luck!

yea i dont understand why federals do this maybe you could somehow rig up a pocket swagger with a big steel ball bearing to kind of mash the pocket to make a little crimp then swage it to the correct shape

thats a little too much for me to feel comfortable. I think I'll just try Lake city and see what happens. I will work up a whole new load since its new components.

Look around & see what primer are a little larger if you can find which one is larger might help for a few more reloads. Reduce your load!

You might try something like this technique, used to swage .217 berdan pockets to accept boxer primers.
