223 case trimming..

I did slightly over 6,000 using a RCBS trimmer(electric powered) and chamfered them on a Lyman case prep center. The best way is to just start. Used a Dillon super swager on the mil ones needing the crimp removed.Stop when your fingers hurt and then start again later.
It went fast enough.A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

I just ordered a WFT from Brownells. The upside is that they are compact and seem to be very consistent. Downside is that they're specific to a caliber. Since I'm only planning on loading .223 for the time being its not that big of a deal, but in the future I'll need to get something with a little more range to it.

I had the WFT, but got the 1200b, the cuts are even cleaner on the 1200, no need to chamfer/debur if loading fmjbtsComment

I have used both the WFT and the Dillon 1200 on my 1050. The WFT worked good, however I had to find myself reseting it for different brands of brass. That thing was abpain in the butt to set because trying to move it just that tiny bit was hard. Then I bought a Dillon 1200 and let me tell you that thing makes prossessing easy as pie with a progressive. I have one toolhead set up just for processing brass. I only use it for my .223. Now that I am getting into .308, I ended up ordering a Giraud to use for both bulk and match processing of my .308 brass. I also purchased the easy swap out head for my match .223 brass. I do have to say that the Dillon does not chamfer and debur but after tumbling with steel media, it knocks off most of the shavings and burs. The Giraud chamfers, deburs, and trims all at the same time.
Each serves a good purpose and I think you will be happy with either.Comment

Giraud or Gracey. The Gracey is just as good as Giraud and about $100 cheaper.

I have the WFT in .223. I find I can case prep around 1000/hr.....cut, deburred, and primer pocket deburred. This is based on previously previously prepped and fired cases. New cases to me end up taking longer to prep due to more inconsistent case lengths needing to be cut down. Going from a manual Lyman to WFT was like night and day...like anthing in life...after using it for a few months I find myself thinking about getting something faster. The only thing stopping me is the amount of return per dollar. Comparing a high end trimmer to my WFT, I'm not sure it will be 4-5 times faster for the price...could be wrong, but that's my take...Comment

I've been using the lee drill setup with the ball cutter and its not horrible, but I'm completely sold on the giraud and am saving up for that. Everytime I watch a vid about it on Youtube I want it more; I'm on that bandwagon 110%..Retired AccountComment
