maybe a little high, but you now have 1000 reloadable cases.about the time B.O. was elected i bought a 1k from samco global arms and it cost a $500...still have it!
    Keep it simple!

Good point on the reloading part.
i remember b4 the panic there priced about 40 to 50 cents a round.
i should of jumped on it.

If you're referring to the Ammoman deal, that's Lake City w/NATO headstamp. Looks about the same price elsewhere. Seems like a so-so price, but I'd want to reload 308 at that price for sure.

Does the NATO spec make it inferior?

No. The brass is just a little thicker.

High. Even during the 08 panic it was only $500. However the brass is going for $200 per k.

Seems to me that would make it better for reloading. Correct?

No, it just means you have to adjust your powder charges vs commercial brass due to less internal volume. Typically a reduction of 3% then work back up.

I don't reload yet, so maybe some that has compared the lifespan of NATO vs commercial can help. But it makes sense to me that thicker brass might last longer. ???

Bumslie is right about the volume.

The only other factor I know about with old NATO stuff is the primers. Double crimps look like a pain to reload. (If you can do it at all) I think they are called Berdan.

So which brands of factory .308 ammunition are best for reloading and which are to be avoided? I don't reload yet, but want to collect my brass for reloading in the future.

Price may be a tad high, but not too bad. Last time I bought factory 308 it was PMC at the local gun show for $9.99/20
